Walking in Madeira through these open irragation channels that started getting build from the fifteenth century, offer some fantastic scenery through the Laurisilva forests, that are indigenous to the island.

  • Walking boots or good walking shoes is always essential as is warm clothing in the winter periods.
  • If required, extra waterproofs, backpacks, torches, & walking sticks are available
  • A 1.5 liter bottle of water is needed especially on the mountain walks as well as a picnic lunch.
  • The walks are done in small groups of 8 to 15 people
